Donate toys for kids

Through Tuesday, 96.3 FM (WDVD) will collect new, unwrapped toys to benefit local charities. The aim is to fill two buses with new toys to ensure no child goes without a gift this holiday season.

Collection hours are 6 a.m.-midnight. Drop them off at BD's Mongolian Grill on Hall Road in Sterling Heights or Westland Mall on Wayne Road in Westland.

Kids meant to inspire

Alex Wiser of Holly and Paige Malewicz of Waterford were named the Boy and Girl of the Year by the Michigan Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Alex and Paige, both 3 and diagnosed with blood cancers, now are in remission.

The organization hopes the pair will serve as inspiration for others suffering with cancer and help with the 2009 Man & Woman of the Year campaign, which strives to raise more than $150,000.
